Planning Activity
- ApprovedPA26/37105 DAY DANGEROUS TREE - Tree branch snapped due to the storm and has fell into the neighbours garden.
- PendingPA26/3689Proposed ground floor extension with part flat and part pitched roof, including a rooflight to the flat roof and a glazed roof to the side slope. Marginal lowering of the existing ground floor level. Proposed loft conversion to facilitate a mezzanine floor, with a rear dormer.
- PendingPA26/3681T1, T2 and T3 Lime (Tilia sp.). Each tree approx. 10m height, stem diameter approx. 350mm at 1.5m, crown width approx. 6 to 7m. Crown reduce each tree by approx. 2 to 3m in height and reduce the lateral branches by approx. 1 to 1.5m on all sides, with all cuts made to suitable growth points. Finished height approx. 7 to 8m, finished crown width approx. 4 to 5m. Justification: The three limes have grown large for their position, close to the property and neighbouring gardens, casting heavy shade and overhanging the garden. Reducing their height and spread will keep them at a size suited to their surroundings, improve light to the garden and reduce the honeydew drip from aphids that is common with lime, over the areas below. Lime tolerates reduction well and responds with vigorous regrowth, so the trees can be kept at this size on a regular pruning cycle while remaining healthy and continuing to contribute to the character of the conservation area. General specification (all trees) All works to be carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 Tree work. Recommendations. Reduction cuts to be made to suitable growth points, with each retained branch at least one third of the diameter of the branch removed. Pruning wounds to be limited to 100mm diameter wherever possible. Final cuts to be made just outside the branch bark ridge and branch collar, with no flush cuts and no stubs. The natural shape and form of each tree to be retained. Works to be carried out between September and February, outside the bird nesting season, with a pre-works inspection for nesting birds and bats. All arisings to be removed from site. I worked out the existing sizes from your figures: a finished 7 to 8m plus a 2 to 3m reduction gives about 10m now. The justification assumes the limes are close to the house and neighbouring gardens. Check both against the site before submitting, and change the wording if the trees are somewhere else. If these limes have been reduced before, add “back to previous reduction points”. Tree officers are much more comfortable approving a tree that’s going back to an established size.
