The tree is identified as a Lawsons cypress. The work to be carried out will be reducing the branches overhanging the boundary between 11a Mill Lane and 15 Mill Lane, Belper but will not cut past the green line into the bare, brown interior wood.

We have recently carried out a survey of the grounds at Osmaston Grange Care Home, Chesterfield Rd, Belper which includes a tree overhanging the building & 4 mature trees over hanging the gardens on Charnwood Ave, Belper, which have been subject of several complaints by the occupants of Charnwood Ave. The complaints relate to light, deadwood and branches falling into the gardens. 1. Crown reduction of mature Sycamore, Hawthorn & Holly at the rear of 18 Charnwood avenue, Belper by a maximum of 3m in height and lateral spread. Pruning back to suitable growth points. The trees are causing excessive shading and safe clearance issues over no. 18. The 3m reduction is proposed to alleviate the overhanging weight, reduce the risk of limb failure & restore reasonable light levels to the property whilst leaving a healthy and balanced crown structure. The residents on Charnwood Ave & Osmaston Grange say that these trees have previously been reduced. 2. Remove all epicormic growth from the lower crown of 2 large Lime trees (situated behind 19 & 20 Charnwood Ave) to 6m from ground level, specifically focussing on the aspect over hanging the neighbouring property. Removing the epicormic growth will clear the encroachment, restore light to the neighbouring garden and improve the appearance of the tree stem without affecting its health & structural integrity. 3. To prune back the over hanging lateral branches of 1 Elder and 1 Ash tree to clear the building structure of Osmaston Grange Nursing Home by a distance of 2m back to suitable growth points. The lateral branches are urgently required to be removed to prevent direct physical damage to the roof & gutters, alleviate structural damp caused by over hanging foliage and establish a safe clearance zone.
