Application for tree works in a Conservation Area (CA): Fell to ground level and remove a Monterey Pine (Pinus radiata) Reason for Proposed Works: T1 is a mature Monterey pine situated in close proximity to neighbouring residential properties. A road has previously been constructed approximately 1 metre from the base of the tree. Given the proximity of the road to the trunk, there are concerns that excavation and ground disturbance associated with its construction may have resulted in damage to, or severance of, significant structural roots. Such disturbance has the potential to compromise the tree's anchorage and long-term structural stability, particularly given the tree's mature size and the associated wind loading. Although the tree is not currently exhibiting obvious external signs of decline or instability, the extent of any historical root damage is unknown. Due to the tree's proximity to residential properties and the potential consequences of structural failure, the property owner has expressed significant concerns regarding its long-term safety. The proposed removal is therefore requested as a precautionary measure to eliminate the potential risk to neighbouring properties and their occupants. Works will involve the controlled dismantling and removal of the tree to ground level using appropriate arboricultural techniques.
